While you can use any profile or combination of MIDI CCs to MIDI Learn and control parameters or actions inside of reaper, here we will show one possible use of controlling the currently selected track's volume and pan as well as the stop, record, and play functions using the MFC's default DAW profile.
1. Set your MFC1 to the DAW profile. By default this is profile 3 on the MFC. If you have deleted the profile you can download it again on this page.
2. Open the Settings... or Preferences menu in Reaper and navigate to the MIDI Inputs tab.
3. Make sure that the Input, All, and Control columns are checked as well as Enable input for track record input, Enable input in 'All MIDI Inputs', and Enable input for control messages in the right click menu.
4. Open the action list by selecting Actions->Show action list...
5. Here you can either assign knobs manually or click Key map... Import shortcuts/custom actions, import all sections and select the attached JamstikMFCDAWProfile.ReaperKeyMap file.
The footswitches show now control stop play and record while the first two encoders control the current track's volume and pan. The third knob can be assigned in actions to another value or used as a generic MIDI learn knob for virtual instruments or other controls at CC16.
