Setting Up a Kontakt Instrument with the Jamstik MIDI Guitar

Step One: Setting up the Jamstik in Jamstik Creator

Connect the Jamstik to Jamstik Creator, then navigate to the MIDI settings menu and set the Jamstik's MIDI channel to Single or Multi-channel MIDI mode. Also, set the MIDI channel to the desired channel.

For this example, I'll be using the Jamstik Studio MIDI Guitar to control a Kontakt drum library (Get Good Drums) in Single Channel MIDI mode on MIDI channel 1.

Additionally, You can adjust the pitch bend range & transpose options to accommodate the 3rd party library here as well as needed for the specific Kontakt instrument, however, since I am controlling drums I have pitch bend & EXP turned off for this example.

Step Two: Set the Kontakt instrument to the corresponding MIDI channel

Load the Kontakt instrument and set the MIDI channel to the corresponding MIDI channel that the Jamstik is sending or select "Omni" if using the Jamsitk in Multi-channel MIDI mode for the Kontakt instrument to register all incoming MIDI channels.



Note: If you are working with multi-part sample libraries (like a guitar library with one part per string) you can map each part to a different string in multi-channel mode using multiple instances of Kontakt mapping each instance to the corresponding MIDI channel per string.
