Serum from Xfer is a powerhouse soft synth that has taken the industry by storm in recent years. Part of the reason people love it so much is because it’s easy to use, yet has deep functionality and customizability. These features make it a great companion for a wide variety of modern MIDI controllers, including the Jamstik Studio—which as I’m sure you know by now, is a native MPE controller.
Let’s go over a couple of settings to tweak in order to make sure you’re getting the most out of these two instruments.
First, make sure your Jamstik Studio’s ‘MIDI Mode’ is set to MPE. You can do this via the Creator app, either stand-alone or in your DAW.
(Tip: if you know you’re in ‘Single Channel’ mode, simply double-tap the power button on your Studio to switch to MPE.)
Next, open up Serum and click ‘Menu’ in the upper right of the plugin. Then, at the bottom, make sure MPE is enabled.
With those two settings checked, you should be good to go!
